New to ascension

Hey all I'm new to ascension I have played WoW(mostly as healer pally from Vanilla-Cata) and some dps. What would be a good build for a first timer?

@ThokkFeng I was going to jump in with suggestions until I read @RoKkA90's response and realized they made good points. It very much depends if you're doing Area 52 for free pick or A'lar for the seasonal challenge.
If you're doing free pick, it might be easier to ask for suggestions based on a type of character you want to play. It could be as a specific concept ("I want to play an undead hunter who tames a ghoul instead of a beast and uses shadow magic as well as a gun!") or a generic playstyle ("I just want to bash stuff with a weapon in each hand").
If you're doing the seasonal server, identify some of the key abilities you've taken so far and maybe we can help cobble together the beginning of a build for you.
