Forum Wipe and Updates

Greetings!

The recent developments in Ukraine resulted in the data-center we have hosted the forums on for years ceasing to provide services without prior notice. This was after assurances from them that servers were backed up and available in other countries.

Unfortunately, this also affected the instance that was used for storing our forum backups as well resulting in a data-loss of relevant posts and threads.

To avoid similar issues in the future, backups are now being distributed through several locations for redundancy similar to what we have been doing for a long time with our other services.

A lot has changed with the forum in this rework. If you were previously familiar with how our forum functioned you will notice that there are a bunch of new features available, the categories have been revamped alongside general design changes.

To list some of the things that have been done since the forums have been brought back online:

1. Massively updated our forum software. This has brought with it a plethora of new features, security patches, anti-spam features and general performance improvements to the browsing experience.

2. Simplified the roles. Rather than opting for our previous approach of mimicking the Discord roles for staff, it has now been compressed into a clean and simple "Ascension Staff" tag! It should be much easier to know when you are talking to someone from the Ascension team now.

3. Adjusted user permissions to be less restrictive regarding options relating to your own posts/threads, among other things you will no longer be denied when attempting to delete something you yourself have posted.

Things we will be looking to add in the near future:

1. Tech Support section with dedicated categories for Windows and Linux where we can together consolidate information to help get more people experiencing issues up and running!
