Fishing Quality of Life Improvement: Have the pole in you inventory but not have to equip it.
This isn't as much of an issue if you are only using a single 2 hander but gets annoying when you have 2 pieces of gear and have to swap out between them in your inventory.
Instead, just treat it like we do with the woodworking and just having the pole in your inventory is enough and if you have multiple, it will use the one with the higher +Fishing score on it.
@Fugus Or just make fishing rods 1h weapons. That would also resolve the issue of having to hunt for your offhand in your bags.
That would work too, but I figure just treat it the same way they do when it comes to chopping down the trees or skinning mobs or mining nodes. Just having the required item in your inventory should be enough.
Off topic, the required 3 rep before you can post more gets really tedious.
@Fugus I think the whole issue of having multiple rods that you alluded to would be laggy. Some players have over 120 slots in their bags, which would need to be scanned every time you cast.
Having an equipment slot for fishing rods could work though.
Could just have the fishing rod put an invisible buff on your character that boosts fishing skill and is removed from you when it is not in your inventory anymore.
Doesn't scan your bags when you cast at that point, just scans your buffs. Heck, could do the same for the normal fishing rod as well and just have the best fishing rod buff overwrite any weaker versions.
Then you can only cast your pole if you have that invisible buff on you which you will only have so long as your pole is in your inventory.
