Brand new to Ascension need some help

A friend of mine asked me to get into ascension with him so I'm doing some research but I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed, and could use some guidance for my first build.

I enjoy summoners a lot, and I like to either play warrior type character who fights alongside my summon or a mage who stands back and blasts.

If pets and summons aren't the most viable I still enjoy casters,, either DoTs or blasters. I've always been enamored with the idea of disease casters, so if there's anything like that I find it super interesting.

I also enjoy assassin type characters either doing a lot of damage to creatures who are full health, or the opposite, having execute type abilities to finish off enemies at low health.

I know its a lot but I was never big into WoW so I'm not sure what's available and wanted to give a lot of options to get the best build help I could.

First thing first, you can check all available random enchants (we call them RE) on ascension webpage: https://ascension.gg/v2/builder/alar/mystic-enchant

Once you log in to the game you will be able to check the Builds posted by community (you press N, then go to Hero Architect tab and you can filter them by their name / enchant they use).

Regarding the things you like to play - we have it all. Speaking from PvE player experience :

right now poison based builds are among strongest single target damage dealers in the game so you should easily find various build that feature Asassin-like gameplay. I won't give you any details as it is not my playstyle / have not been interested in it.
Disease you say ? I suggest you check website/youtube for "Harbringer of Pestilence" - whole RE created around using diseases. Can be build both around Nature or Shadow damage which leaves you plenty of room for your personal prefferences (aoe or single target ? burst or consistent damage ?)
Melee Summoners - i've seen some guys pulling decent numbers with enslaved demons (using "Beast and blade" RE) so i know it is possible to make strong melee build with pets, but given how many weak ones i met - it's definitely hard to do.

@PeacefulNPC Thanks that harbinger of pestilence thing sounds great! I'll look into those builds! Did not know you could access community builds in game that is super helpful.
