How's the playerbase?
-
I'm looking for a good MMO to get into.
I like the idea of Ascention wow a lot. Breathing new life into the oldschool part of WoW.
My only worry is that I'm seeing very few players about when trying to level in the world. It feels very barren. In other private servers I was seeing people everywhere throughout the leveling process, whereas now I feel like I'm playing a singleplayer game.
Can anyone attest to the playercount being rather large on Ascention? I'm surprised there's no tracker or anything as most other servers seem to have them.
Also I'm looking for a build that can heal but also hold their own in open world questing. Any shouts?
Thanks!

@DootLord I’ve been playing on this server for about 2 years, but when I go to play on other projects I feel toxicity, someone says that it’s the same here, but during the game I just enjoyed the lamp atmosphere and challenges, custom classes, draft, exalted, etc. .d I like this project and wish more interesting features in the game.

@DootLord Hey! I can assure you the pop is very healthy on both of our main realms.
Population counters are pointless anyways. Easily cheatable just to make the server seem super active.

@TastyGM I’ll say more, I play on another project and there are all races, but not classes, while playing I feel toxicity from the pvp community, players are always hanging out in the Alliance village and killing NPCs, players (just like that) and there is also a faction of renegades and here they are all toxic , plus the cities are always covered in corpses, and this makes me think that in Ascension there are few such people in pvp, the cities are filled to the point of small lags, it’s a pity you don’t meet many people around the world, but you do, and that’s why I love other projects, I always want to come back to your project it is lamp-like and cozy. Plus, where I am, all the servers have pvp on, but one has pvp off. And how I wait for you to have all the races with their tests to open them, otherwise it’s meager. And here’s another thing: you have the opportunity to turn into different races, like those snakes that I saw among the players, so is it possible for equipment for such appearances to dress up as if it were a game race?

The toxicity on Ascension is even worse especially with people griefing in dungeons nowadays. Even if players aren't griefing each other in dungeons, dungeon runs are still toxic for other reasons. If you don't grasp mystic enchants by the time you hit 60, or don't use mandatory, must-have Reddit builds McDoubles and other youtubers influence guilds to enforce for raids/pvp, you're going to be very miserable with endgame content (I hope you like melee and aoe spam because range is more or less a joke even at endgame. Pets are more or less worthless unless you go with something like Wolf or a Green Welp*). Don't even bother doing dungeon quests unless you buy the p2w quest orb and lootbot if you want that quest xp, and the dungeon queue from 15-70 honestly sucks (Do you like SFK or WC? I hope so because you'll be in those dungeons for the most part, and I guarantee you that you're not getting your dungeon quests done in one shot). I'm pressing X to doubt on the healthy population comment because I've been in 40 minute queues as a healer, longer as a dps. It's getting tougher to do pugs thanks to griefers and long queues. Org isn't as crowded as it was during the cancerous 4th League, and Shattrah is more or less dead (and buggy).
*Btw, have fun farming green welps or any pet whistle/stone/vellum because farming is not fun at all on this server.

@DootLord Player base is split between the servers, usually with majority on the Seasonal one when its content is still fresh and hot. After they've done the content grind there, some of them trickle back to main server.
It's quick to level up and majority of people do so by dungeon- or pvp spamming, so that is likely why it feels empty when doing open world questing. Best I can recommend is find a guild and join up with people doing the challenges where running dungeons are much harder to do risk-free, encouraging world questing more.
There is also the matter of the world phasing players depending on whether you are going no-risk, low-risk or high-risk world pvp. Since those players are separated, it thins out how many you see around you even more.
Take the stuff @BimboBaggins1981 is saying with a grain of salt. I'm not going to debate here, but just know the points they raise are only really a concern if you go into Ascension with high expectation or if you are already a veteran of its content. All MMOs have metas and imbalances.
Have fun trying things out. Experiment. Learn the game at your own pace. Finding friends to play with is definitely the best way to enjoy Ascension imo.

I’m a simple player, I run around the world with a challenge, complete quests, collect gear, etc. (Just in relaxation), I die again, and I’m not interested in dungeons, pvp and raids in WWII because of such toxics, I’m in dungeons for all MMOs and I enjoy raids in DC Universe online, it’s simple there, but not in wow. I'm a collector of things, not a fanatic of dungeons, raids and pvp.

Have fun getting griefed by someone who joins a dungeon just to bail out of spite whether or not s/he intentionally pulled mobs. Have fun getting yelled at by "elite players" who just copy-paste whatever build McDoubles or other youtubers talk about, and have fun getting into any kind of guild that does endgame if you don't know what you're doing. Enjoy the fact spamming dungeons will get you to 70 faster than the so-called "revamped world," and net you more points to use on enchants (I've realized this while going through HC Ironman mode). Have fun trying to do quests without the p2w quest orb and lootbot (sure, others will have it, but doesn't mean they'll share it with you).
See, collecting things is fun, but the problem is most of the mounts, pets, and other dumb things are behind paywalls unless you're willing to go through the cancer that is farming on Ascension. Have fun wasting over 6 hours getting a stupid green welp just to heal with a dragon.

@BimboBaggins1981 I don’t speak English (i’m Russian) and I don’t notice the arguments of toxic people and I buy everything through an auction, but I have to farm gold, but everyone has a different definition of fun.) P.S. without any political commentary.

I've been playing for about a year and I've spent time on all available servers (including CoA and the LK Alpha) and I've had way more positive than negative experiences. Honestly, I prefer this community to WoW proper where stuff that what you're talking about got to be so bad I walked away after 15 years. What I have noticed is a fair split between people who are more helpful than I anticipated and people who just don't respond in conversations. Mind you, this is just in groups and raids - trade chat is a dumpster fire but you have to accept that it acts as a stage for everyone to just be goofy. Game is dope and free - enjoy it for what it is.
