A dedicated Hardcore server but with a twist. My ideas are something like this. Let's start by building the Starting Hub
There would be a large central Hub that exists outside of Azeroth, similar to Felforged but it would be an Custom Instanced Ironforge filled with Custom NPC's, and Vendors for the basic necessities, maybe some fun quirky ones also. It will have a Neutral Auction House, and if its possible, 1v1 Arena Coliseum/Pit that can be spectated, dying is permanent.
Here are some ideas about the server.
Players are limited to 1 Character slot on the server but start with a secondary specialization and the means to unlock more by spending gold at a vendor that sells them. Players will also start with 4, 32 slot bags. There will be a lot of loot to sort through and sell, standard 16 slots simply wont cut it here.
When you die, your character drops all the gear they have equipped and in their Inventory into a chest on the ground. (Starting bags/Vanity/Store items will not drop) The chest will de-spawn after 1 minute to prevent chests lagging the servers, as well as make it harder and more tactical for stealth players to swipe the chest, and vice-versa, making looting that much more urgent as time is ticking.
You start at lvl 60 inside the Custom Ironforge Starter Hub, There will be an NPC that teleports you into Azeroth, you are spawned randomly high into the sky, and parachute down to the ground.
May Luck be with you should you have to navigate your landing around an enemy factions city.
After you have landed, you may travel normally through out Azeroth as per normal, Flight Paths, Mounts, Boats. However, the Auction House NPC's in all of Azeroth will be removed, to sell any items you have, either meet up in-person and trade while you are traveling through Azeroth, or, you go to the Starting Hub and have a pint or two while putting sweet Epics on the Auction House. This gives more interactions between players, and let's be honest with ourselfs, we want to show off to everyone.
Every Single Mob is scaled to level 60. You start with basic greens, and every mobs loot table is the same. Capable of dropping anything from level 1 grey vendor trash to level 60 rare and epic items, the exception being with Rare Mobs and Elites/Bosses that will have insanely superior quality loot tables.
All Items, both Bloodforged and Non-Bloodforged will not be Soulbound, and Items will always drop as their PVE Versions. if people want to Bloodforge it, its their choice to do so. Mythic+ items can be looted without being Bloodstained, it'll still return the quality to its Non-Mythic counter-part if you choose to Bloodstain it however.
Once players leave the Starting Hub they will not be able to return unless they use their Hearthstone(or spell). This will be on a 2 hour cooldown once used and take you straight to Starting Hub.
There may or may not be hidden portal masters scattered around the world that could "Extract" you back if you find them... for a large sum of money of course.
- There will be profession vendors that sell beginner materials for copper, silver, or gold. To find the higher level materials you will have to farm them yourself through luck and effort.
*This is to Counter Balance the Mob Scaling and not being able to properly farm basic profession materials that only drop at certain levels.
- Server will be Free Pick
