File Integrity check.

Hello does anyone know if the launcher is meant to verify file integrity of 4.5gb each time the launcher is opened?
This takes around 8 minutes on my computer and 8 minutes every time adds up. If this is the intended functionality of the launcher then ok. I'm just not sure if anyone else client has to re-verify files constantly.
