Can't update launcher

So my launcher has been a problem for awhile now. When I first downloaded the game last year, the launcher updated almost every time I logged in and it was fine. Then, it started to slow down the download for the last 5% of the verification process, and that was fine. I just waited.
Then, it started to do this thing where it would run all the way through the verification process and then it would bounce back to 60 or 70%, and very slowly verify back up to 100% and then log on. that went on for awhile, and then it started bouncing back, and verifying up to some random point in the process and stopping. But not every time, just sometimes.
So fast forward to today. Now, it won't verify at all. It either sits on 0% verified and won't do anything, or it goes up to 100%, bounces back and will not go any further.
And this is bad, because now you've taken my builds off and I can't move forward without updating the launcher. -
I should note that I have done a lot of things in an effort to remedy the situation: I have deleted and re-installled the launcher several times, with and without emptying my cache; I have uninstalled and re-downloaded the entire game. I have chanted mystical formulae and stood in the corner on my head while the launcher verified; I have bathed in the blood of a virgin beneath a full moon while verifying. None of these things have been effective.

@TastyGM same issue as OP. Your link didn't help. The client was working up until today. Tried uninstalling and now it won't let me install from the client, I keep getting an error "Something went wrong. Please try again."

@AlwaysWantedN64 Are you running it as admin? That fixed 99% of the people that had this issue yesterday.
