Why does my alliance character always fight for horde in random pvp battlegrounds?

I just started pvping today with an alliance character I recently made. I think I had a horde character with same name first, but deleted her. Is this why I am being confused as horde or is it always random and I just happened to be horde several times in a row? Does this hurt alliance rep? ty

BGs are crossfaction so it is possible you will be assigned to the other faction`s team.

This does not hurt your progression at all
