This game is utterly Unenjoyable.

This server is dying. and theres no wonder why. Truth be told, theres nothing to do and nothing fun to do. as a new player, you jump in thinking "yea! im gonna make my own so-and-so and its gonna be awesome!" and they get to top level realizing its just purely inferior to what xx meta build is or some crap. In pvp you have these toxic exploiters, not gamers that have taken over and made it all painfully unenjoyable. they play only meta builds/troll builds that just smash. So.... new players have no facete to fit in. They cant keep up in pve and they basically arent allowed to pvp. So they leave.
As a person playing on this server for several years, there are some builds that are straight up unbeatable, or have 0 counters. players shamelessly use them anyways and bully the community out of the game. its not fun, not fair, and it needs changing. When players have to beg others to be less cruel, (and ive whinessed this) your game has a toxicity issue brought on by the fact you have these people who wanna cheat within legal lines and always win, and get away with it (because you've let them)Real talk, you guys need moderators to actually play the game and look for these people and ask them to stop, or ban them. Then you need to find out what they're doing and nerf the crap out of it.
There are two types of people who play games: gamers who play the game as intended
exploiters who just want to win by any means.Youve catered to one side of the community, and yes, there are some cool RE's as a result. but you community is dropping fast and this server is on its way to being desolate. thats not a sign of success.
-
@I8mycat sorry but community isnt dropping at all. If anything, it is getting larger. If you are pvping, either get good or stop pvping. Its not exploiting if its true game mechanics. You need to find the "ignore" button and use it. Yes there are asshats that play but that is true in any mmo. If it bothers you this much, maybe you need to not play MMOS. If you think its bad here, go play rust for a few months. You will see this is a cake walk

the only thing making it unenjoyable are all the transphobes, racists, homophobes, sexists and right-wing trolls in public general chat that for some reason do not get a ban.
edit:
getting negative rep for calling out the extremist right-wing trash was expectable.
@NathanCardinal might elaborate on this?
@Phro so you are saying, that you are ok with this behavior? even like it perhaps?

Hit the nail on the head. It has been like this forever. But when they nerf the top performers, the sweatlords simply move on to the next best thing. It's an endless game of whack-a-mole.
So why do they do that? Why don't they just buff the weak builds? I think it's because it's much easier to nerf 1 or 2 things than buff 10 things. It boils down to laziness, I'm sure.
When they nerf something, they nerf it HARD too. And so it becomes a weak legendary RE. No longer a "top performer problem", but rather one of the many useless REs.
Do they play their own game? I doubt it.
-
@Sashalanda apparently you havent been here for very long. this server USED to be packed, you could find at least 10 different groups or often more running every kind of raid, almost every bg you see new and different toons, not just alts.
you had non legendary re builds back then that were just as powerful too.
No, its always the bit of the community that does exploit, tryhard, and have toxic competitive traits that always scoff and laugh at posts like these. and its a natural response, you cant and wont ever admit that you could be a problem. You get behind your screens, and treat everyone and everything else like they're npcs there only to give you enjoyent at whatever means you deem ok, and its obvious you view games as "everything goes" because in the end there is nothing holding you morally resposible for your actions. if you make something that is stacked and pretty much unkillable, you'll use only that instead of thinking "oh hey, this might be a little over the top... maybe i should use something along the level of everyone else to keep things fair and interesting"
no, you just wanna win, and if the devs overlook something, you'll jump on it and exploit it to the full untill they remove or nerf it to keep getting your fix. this has been going on for years. i watched this place go from multiply thousands of daily users (3k+), to like 300. And ive done pve and pvp here... its the same story for both. people dont collect raid gear for months/years on end and maximize what they have to be at the bottom of the recount charts. but that happens to literally everyone who does not like to exploit for freelo.
EVERY friend ive tried to bring here, every single one quit shortly after they rolled their first toon and hit 70 and made the same exact remark im posting here. like frfr you actually prevented like 5 people from joining this server. so no, i have testimony from myself, and from real people i know who were trying get into the game.
This place grants too much freedom that has been regularly abused and now you feel entitled to continue on doing so.
All im saying is something has got to give. there has always been something absolutely cheesy and ridiculous going on until it gets seen and removed by the devs. three weeks ago it was mana burn, last week it was healing in lack of manaburn... now its melee and stacking cc again. when i first joined there were build stacking %physical damage where warriors and hunters were 1 shotting everything in pve/pvp. it was just cheesy rediculous exploiting in the end that got gutted by the devs like ive stated before. -
@I8mycat
The truth is that today people have stopped being afraid and have unlearned to tolerate losing, because today various stupid things are introduced in kindergartens so that the children do not feel what it is like to lose (for example, a medal for participation) and on top of that, the human characteristic which is greed is also present here, and it is present in this game in the fact that I have to be in the first place in the DPS meter, otherwise the game is worth shit.
Then, if these people are not the first, they are irritated because their cerebellum did not give them enough endomorphin (or whatever it's called :D) and they start to be toxic.
Well, I'm sorry if I offended anyone, but that's life, you win once and then you lose, and it's up to you what you take from that loss. Because a person learns and gains the most from losing and making mistakes. (and it's been that way since the beginning of us humans)

@Cheeseberry blatantly stating the reason they enjoy something is because it "lets them kill gay people" as i've seen multiple people discuss doing in /1 pretty blatantly does make them a right-wing extremist though.
-
@Cheeseberry
When you have a close group of people you know, cracking all kinds of jokes including the worst and most shocking ones works because you all know what you do and don't mean. When this happens in a public place where all people are strangers, you have no way of telling those who are doing it for the lulz apart from those who actually believe these things. For this reason public spaces where hateful jokes are allowed begin to attract the hateful people who otherwise can't find a home anywhere else because their hate is rightfully condemned.
And you can't tell when someone is telling the joke because it's shocking or because they're making fun of the people who believe these things, or whether the punchline is actually the bigoted statement within.
The statements go past simple "cringy but ultimately free speech" when they advocate and glorify violence against other members who are actively participating in the otherwise democratic act of having everyone speak their mind: the bigoted people are now actively discouraging the existence/participation of others in this equality by hurling violence their way.
Eventually people being bothered by these attacks begin to leave and in their place join more and more haters. And it becomes a breeding ground for those seeking to radicalize to start meeting normal people with lies and caricatures that turn them against minorities whereas there are none left speaking out against them.
So this kind of behavior is different from the usual "guerilla" gamer toxicity in that it organizes into a force that actively promotes cruel individuals.
If you are truly concerned about free speech then you should be concerned about the attacks against minorities that stifle their public participation. We have one minority trying to push all the others out. You can tell who the aggressor is because they're the ones on the offense with this kind of behavior.
And quite frankly, what all is there here that is that controversial? This stuff doesn't fly in a lot of online spaces. Rules against hate aren't controversial. What's your number? A caricaturizing joke? A well wish for the death of a group? An active call to exterminate a group? There eventually comes a point.
Your stance is naive capitalism where everyone is allowed to do everything without limits for the sake of freedom, including attacking others - because "the free market will sort itself out". The only result of such an arrangement is groups of bullies who gang up and start actively terrorizing everyone else.
-
@Sashalanda The only reason for your post can only be that you take part in this and enjoy it. It is exploit, exploits are found in the game aren't they? How can it be enjoyable if you can't really participate in it? It is easy for this server to have exploits because it is free pick. I have done tons of bgs and you always see 1 to 3, or 4 players doing at least twice as much damage and or kills.
It isn't a fun experience when you feel that you are either being countered very easily or destroyed in 4 seconds or less. Or caught in aCC chain you can't get out of, until you die.
This is a game design flaw, but too many are taking far too much advantage of it.
I am even suspecting that Devs are the ones taking advantage of it, that they play the game and have created their own exploits, why?
I see too many situations that seem rigged/designed to keep, particularly melee going. For example, I saw melee in Torren Mills come into enemy territory and when they couldn't get a kill or where getting hit, would high tail out of there instantly with super speed way back to their territory to their healer and no matter how much CC you used, they only needed a split second to get out. I have never seen this in any other similar games, or WoW versions ever. This is clearly rigged. -
@Cheeseberry I don't think these people are "right wing", they are not political, they are just haters, but with all the woke stuff being shoved down our throats, even people who were tolerant are now not so much so.
-
@I8mycat I agree with you 100%. I have played WoW since 2008. I have played GW2 and many other similar games and I have never seen something like this, so blatantly OP, or placing some players at such an incredible disadvantage, because of the game mechanics. And no, no matter how good you are, if the game mechanics are stacked against you, you don't have a chance period.

You do not know my stance on anything, I didn't give any personal opinions, state my political affiliation or take a side in the argument. I simply stated that...

Thanks for the wall of text though.

@Cheeseberry That you wilfully decided to separate this part of my statement from the rest of the consequences I stated result from this - which ultimately condemn the idea - and making it seem as if I agree with you speaks about bad-faith, low-quality debating more than any wall of text I could write, wouldn't you say?
Administration should understand how these types of interactions work and what they ultimately lead to and display competence in handling them. Some level of irreverence and insulting is normal, but there are forms of it which assemble into organized hate - and they do it precisely because the plausible deniability allows them to grow. Nobody should be arguing about what somebody meant or didn't when they say something inoccuous like "retard", but "I enjoy killing gay people"?! Come on.

@Makaezaoru joins the fray. bigot.Posts like these and people like you are why Azeroth at War and Duskhaven were terrible flops full of creepy players (AaW is dead in the water). No one even mentioned identity politics. Btw, I think you should stop going to Reddit because real life isn't Reddit.
PvP is never going to be balanced. Expecting balanced Pvp is like expecting world peace or expecting a hyena not to eat lion cubs in the wild. Pvp to me was a leveling tool I had some fun with despite being awful at it, and once I hit 70 I never touched it again. Stun meta isn't fun, and I'm not interested in fighting p2w whales and poopsockers in high risk pvp. I dealt with enough whales in my gacha days.
I'm more concerned about PvE getting worse from buggy and mostly unplayable content to flat out griefing in dungeons and endgame content being a barren wasteland unless you can get into a guild with some mandatory reddit-meta build Mcdoubles and other youtubers made guilds enforce (btw, screw you for being involved with Raid Shadow Legends and its sleazy sponsorship, McDoubles). I've been in 3 griefed instances in a row where players will troll tanks with extra pulls, or they'll pretend to do something before leaving the group. At first it was in the 1-60 dungeon runs, but now it's hitting heroic and mythic. If griefing isn't an issue, it's getting harder to find people to do any kind of content regardless of your role. I've been in queues for over 20 minutes as a healer, longer as a dps. Queues are longer regardless of your level.
"Go level in the world. They changed zones where you can level. Level woodworking, lol" - Dungeons and Pvp are still faster to level with or without xp boosts. Have the p2w quest orb on hand with lootbot, and you're going to get more dungeon xp (even more with heirlooms). Woodcutting is a joke that lost its luster. I'm only going to play old quests so many times ad nauseum.
"Go collect pets and mounts" - Too bad most of them are in the cash shop (I got Squeaker with some left over coin after buying an altar and other things, so I'm not going to play holy than thou), and farming feels like I'm dying from cancer. Pet drops need to be faster, and they need to revamp the pet system. It's pretty bad.
"Join a guild." Yea, good luck with that if you don't have some mandatory, must have reddit build McDoubles or other youtubers influenced guilds to look for. The group finder hardly gets any action.
"Git gud" I figured out my Huntard build, and am trying to get the hang of Hierophant healing. The problem is the pve build gives you tame dragon, and if you don't have a green whelp don't even bother doing any healing with a dragon. Griefers aren't really helping you learn how to play your role because some of them really go out of the way to make it miserable.
"Play Draft Pick" I'm not touching that with a 69' stripper pole, and I'm not spending money on p2w mechanics. Buying the p2w quest orb was bad enough.
