- What you need to know?
Edge of Fury is an incredibly high paced agility based melee DPS spec that requires wrists of steel and lightning fast reaction speeds to bring the most out of the spec while having a fundamental understanding on how your stack generation functions, and how to optimize it mid-rotation.
Having a proper WeakAura setup is incredibly helpful for both beginners and expert players alike.
- Spell-kit & Playstyle
Backstab: Your filler ability, combo-point generator, rage generator. Very straightforward ability. Use it when you have energy to spare.
Spiteful Strike: Your primary rage spender and sometimes energy buffering ability. You should try your best to hit all of your Omen of Clarity procs on this ability, it is your most consistent way of generating Edge of Fury stacks, and your only way of automatically triggering Killing Spree.
Blind Revenge: Primary AoE tool and energy bank, with 4 talent point investment, you already have a very solid AoE tool while not sacrificing that much Single Target output. Use this ability when you want to get out your next Killing Spree faster, or low on energy.
Killing Spree: You only ever want to cast this manually once at the start of combat to apply Massacre to the target, in a dummy pumping environment (or close to it), your uptime of Massacre should be close to 100%. You can activate it manually if you're afraid you'll drop the debuff on the target, but it significantly reduces it's power as you'll miss the damage of one full Spiteful Strike.
Important interactions & effects:
Relentless Strikes: It's what makes your Blind Revenge your energy "bank", additionally nice ARP proc for some extra damage.
Shredding Blows: A lot of people assume that if the talent says the 15% ARP boost lasts until your next 3 swings, that it only boosts your auto attacks. That is false. It boosts your auto attacks AND every %weapon damage based ability. Unless you're severely undergeared, this should always be active.
Omen of Clarity + Power of Omens: This is the reason you do NOT want to macro Heroic Strike, Cleave or even Raptor Strike into any of your abilities, as they will most likely consume your Omen that would have been better spent on a 20k+ Spiteful Strike, and you won't even get the Power of Omens buff from it, as they're replacing your auto-attacks.
Massacre: 15% damage boost to all of your attacks and abilities permanently if the spec is played well, maintaining this debuff is incredibly important for maximum DPS.
Rotation & Priority:
There's no set rotation as a lot of it comes down to when you get procs and when you're low on energy, so there's only a very loose priority list which is as follows:
Spiteful Strike -> Backstab -> Blind Revenge (preferably only on 5 CP!)
There are some advanced strings you'll need to experience and feel out to have the best possible Edge of Fury stack generation, while I can't list all of them, here's a very common example: You currently have Omen of Clarity active, 5 Combo Points, above 444 Rage and have 3 stacks of Edge of Fury. A common mistake here would be pressing Spiteful Strike twice in a row, first would expend your Omen, the second your Rage and you'd be at 5 stacks with only Blind Revenge active which CAN grant you stacks, it does NOT trigger the automatic Killing Spree.
The solution to this problem: Press Spiteful Strike to expend your Omen then follow up with Blind Revenge to get your fifth and last stack of Edge of Fury, after this, you can simply expend all of your Rage to cast one more Spiteful Strike in order to cast Killing Spree.
- Talents & Abilities
Death Wish is a must, best Physical DPS cooldown.
Try to get Hunger for Blood, Blade Flurry and Sweeping Strikes (to have flexibility with your third ERE)
Charge is vital as some mechanics will force you out of melee range and you'll need a way to get back into the frey quickly. Additional mobility such as Demonic Leap is very nice to have.
For raiding and M+, it's very important as a melee to have at least one defensive such as Dispersion (my personal choice) or Cloak.
- Gearing & Statweights
14% hit >>> Agi >> Crit >> AP
Won't be posting a BiS list, keep these statweights in mind when gearing. For tier pieces Rogue is your best bet, while T5 4p is not too crazy, 2p is very important as it grants you almost 5% free crit if you can sustain it (also you stack it very fast!).
As for weapons: Night Blades, Night Blades and lastly Night Blades. You are a fully Physical spec without bleeds, this means that you get the full effect of Armor Penetration. Make sure you use different effect ones, such as M20 and M19 Night Blades, as one grants 61 ARP, the other 60. Keep in mind 67 ARP equals 10% ARP exactly, these weapons are your BiS until the end of Seasonal. Not a single weapon comes close to them in power. They're expensive, so if you need replacement daggers, go for a high base damage 1.8 MH and a stat stick 1.4 OH.
Consumables: Charged Air Fried Chops + Pure Flask of the Executioner
- Skillcards & Draft
Hard card Revenge, if you don't have Defensive Stance, this is your only chance to get it. As for additional drafting and skill cards, I don't particularly like to touch on it as your setup can be vastly different from mine.
Starter Abilities
I prefer Tame Beast and Backstab for easy leveling in hardcore Trials, interchangeable with Charge if you're in a prestige group. Pet is not mandatory, if you don't want to make your life hell, just take Charge, Backstab, Slice & Dice and Battle Stance.
