Legendary RE: Sanguine Embrace (Edgelord healer)
-
With the introduction of Cauterizing Flames LRE, I started to wonder what other non-holy/nature healing can be made. It feels rather natural to play on the Shadow healing aspect, but I didn't just want to make it so all party healing from Vampiric Embrace is increased.
So lets embrace the edgelord in us all and go full vampire theme with it:
..........................................................................................................
Sanguine Embrace:
Shadowform is transformed into Bloodform/Sanguineform. While in this form, the following changes occur:
Health Funnel can now target friendly players, but its health cost is increased by 20%.
Whenever you heal a target with Health Funnel or get healed by your own Shadow spells and effects, you are granted a stack of Anima, increasing healing power by 1% and the health cost of Life Tap by 5%, stacking 20 times.
Cancelling Bloodform/Sanguineform removes all stacks.Life Tap now causes the Anima to spill out from your body, consuming all stacks of Anima and heals up to 5 friendly party or raid members within 30 yards for an amount equal to Life Tap's health cost. This heal scales with Healing Power.
If 20 stacks are consumed with Life Tap, you enter a Sanguine Embrace for 30 seconds, which causes all healing received from your own Shadow spells and effects to also heal other party members for the same amount.
..........................................................................................................
Concept:
Damage dealing with health sacrificing for party wide healing, which is healed up through Drain/Shadow spells with self-healing effects, since Shadowform prevents other healing forms, unless the player wants to drop the form for some quicker healing, to the expend mana to get back into Shadowform.I have to admit, I don't exactly know how Health Funnel could be made to scale its health cost and healing done. Healing power? Drain Life modifiers?
It's not even necessary to include the Shadowform transformation/requirement, but I found that it makes sense so it isn't too broken by being able to use the whole Anima/Sanguine with other healing. Plus, having Anima stacks removed when cancelling the form also makes for an easy way to undo stacks if you can't afford a high health cost Life Tap.
Life Tap is something a lot of us are using, so I figured it might as well be made into something more. The thinking is that the Anima buff will do more healing by increasing the health cost of Life Tap. So you hurt yourself more but heal more, which can be balanced with how much Anima you have stacked up.
Sure, it can sound broken since Life Tap can be spammed, but then you are reducing healing received for yourself, which is what you need to recover the health to do more healing. See the gimmick here?It might be a lot to have each stack Anima cause a 5% health cost increase for Life Tap, which already costs health equal to 6% of your maximum health or mana, whichever is higher. The thinking isn't that the 6% convert rate is increased by +5% per stack, but rather the damage taken by the 6% health cost is increased by 5%.
Example:
Lets say you Life Tap with 10.000HP at lvl 70, it would "cost" 600HP to use. With a 5% increase, it would cost 630HP. At 10 stacks Anima, it would 50% increase, costing 900HP. At 20 stacks Anima, it's 1200HP.
In other words, at 20 stacks it would heal for 1200HP + Bonus Healing Power, but consequently consumes that much HP from player in order to heal others.Sanguine Embrace is basically a reverse Beacon of Light that relies on self-healing, but requires there to be enemies to use effectively.
Anima buff can be gained relatively quickly if the player uses Vampiric Embrace (Shadow talent ability) or Unbounded Drain Life (ERE). Might even say it's a must-have for using it.
Shadow Self-heal spells:
Drain Life
Devouring Plague
Vampiric Embrace
Haunt
Death Coil
Fel Armor procSynergies:
- Void Shift (Shadow ability) - Backup if something goes wrong with health management.
- Demon Skin/Armor (Demonology ability) - Increases healing received.
- Improved Health Funnel (Demonology talent) - Mitigate the 20% health cost increase by the RE. Would be neat if it also reduces damage target player receives, like with demons.
- Improved Life Tap (Affliction talent) - More healing, more mana. What is there not to like.
- Siphon Life (Affliction talent) - Causes Corruption to self-heal, which could proc an Anima
- Death's Embrace (Affliction talent) - Increases health drained with Drain Life while below 20% HP. Makes sense with the build.
- Harvester of Death capstone (Affliction talent) - Stronger Death Coil heal, stronger party-wide heal while Sanguine Embrace is active.
- Martyrdom (Discipline talent) - A small healing done increase while below 75% HP.
- Desperate Prayer (Holy talent ability) - Although it forces you out of the Shadowform, it's a oh-shit heal when at low health.
..........................................................................................................
I'd love any and all feedback/critique, thank you.

@LordCupcakes Kudos to this guy for inspiring the idea for Health Funnel use.
His idea is to have an ERE to let it target and heal party members. Find his post here.
