Legendary RE: Shadow Shuriken
-
Created an idea for a new playstyle based around thrown weapons because they don't have near enough love. The numbers are just placeholders, of course, but I based them around already existing abilities. The fact that it requires Thrown and disables Auto Attack could allow for really great ability to channel all that passive power into the abilities making them feel more impactful. The idea I think is self evident in the tool tip but to spell it out your main combo point generator is Shuriken Toss which can be used more often due to the buff you get from Slice and Dice (Fast Toss). This in turn can be spent for either single target damage in Deadly Throw (altered in this case to do more single target damage to make it worth while but removing the slowing utility to keep it fair for PvP) or with multi-target damage in Glave Toss (Shadow Shuriken). All the while you are trying to keep up your Shadow Dance to change your damage type to Shadow for a while and give you a minor damage buff though there is some timing to keep in mind with this limited duration buff as well. Should give good damage spike moments while allowing for some thought and care as to when to activate it without being too punishing for not being optimal. I suspect it would be paired with Shadowform for some damage benefits and thematic shadow ninja action.
What are your thoughts? -
@Ketsuiken This is really well done! Definitely a LRE that has a defined playstyle to it. Here are my thoughts/some questions about it.
You describe Shadow Shuriken damages up to 5 targets, but is this done in way the hunter's Multi-Shot splits out? Or is it added bouncing targets to the Improved Glaive Toss talent's bouncing? If it's in the way of Multi-Shot, would that mean targets hit can also bounce, causing a total cascading of all hit targets causing bouncing between eachother? Because that sounds crazy. Especially if you can apply poison to thrown weapon (which I'm not sure whether is possible or not).
Fast Toss feels fairly balanced, since you would have to build up combo points for Slice and Dice (which can be done better with Slice and Dice talents), then rely on the 30 energy costing (20 energy with Throwing Specialization talent) Shuriken Toss to build up another round of combo points for Shadow Shuriken use.
Dancing Shadows is neat. Is the Shadow damage portion as added damage or instead of physical damage?
Overall, loving it.

@LuchiousCaine Thanks for taking the time to look at my suggestion! I imagine Shadow Shuriken having extra bounces like the Improved Glaive Toss talent rather than multishot if for no other reason than it would be easier to implement. Also, you can't apply poison with a thrown weapon it only works on melee weapons - but interestingly Deadly Throw counts as melee for this interaction though none of the other abilities do as it works today. Dancing Shadows would be replacing the damage rather than bonus damage this causes you to have to think about what buffs you can use in either stance. Things like Death Wish would only work in physical form but things like Shadowform would only work when using Dancing Shadows so you would have to time it properly to get best effect.
Let me know if you have any other thoughts!

@Ketsuiken I always did wonder why they wouldn't allow poison for thrown weapons, but oh well. Crippling Poison from 30yd away is probably just too broken, had it been possible. Always did dabble with the idea of making an RE that works for it though.
Curious about Dancing Shadows replacing the damage dealt entirely. Would that mean the changed abilities could trigger Shadow talents somehow? Although the way Ascension limits talents to class-specific spells, it might not... Could still be cool though.
Don't have much else to say. Keep up the creative work~
