I brought this up to the relevant developers that handle these things, and they brought it to my attention that this is something currently under investigation. It turns out that implementing the proposed changes here result in an unforeseen issue related to the outlaw system that we are working on resolving.
If/when that has been resolved we can proceed with doing this change!
