    • Paladin Tank Dungeon Set is Unusable

I have been playing prot pally for a while now and have gotten as high as +17 in mythics. Prot pally is built around the Divinity talent but is only usable if your primary stat is Strength. That being said- the dungeon set for paladin tanks is all stamina and intellect with no strength in sight. So even though I've gotten a few pieces of +14 and +15 of the pally set, those pieces are thrown into the trash because they don't work with Divinity. The whole spell tank thing is really cool and I'd like to make use of the Int-tanking. Could we perhaps change the divinity talent to function while Strength OR Intellect is the primary stat?

It's quite a buzzkill to get a high m+ version of a set that is made specifically for your build but then it's an auto-delete because the main talent of your build doesn't allow you to use intellect as main stat.

    • Improved Blessing of Sanctuary (New Tank Talent + Capstone)

Hi guys...I'm here with another Prot Pally idea after my many hours of tanking high keys and heroic raids.

I think it would be great if we could add an additional talent called Improved Blessing of Sanctuary at level 35 as a 5 point talent with a defensive capstone effect. Each point increases the amount of Stamina received from Blessing of Sanctuary by 1%.

The current effect of Blessing of Sanctuary regenerates 6% mana whenever you block/dodge/parry. My idea for the capstone would be that in addition to the mana regeneration, Improved Blessing of Sanctuary also causes the player's block/dodge/parries to extend the duration of Divine Protection by 1 second, up to once per second. This will allow Paladin tanks to get another few seconds out of the Divine Protection spell if their build is done correctly.

    • New Red Gem - Block Rating vs Dodge/Parry

We have a lot of custom content in Ascension. We have dodge and parry gems for bear/parry tanks with dodge and parry tanks being able to get to 80% chance in their respective mitigation chances but there are no gems for shield tanks- being forced to go into hybrid setups since there are no other options. I'm not sure if this needs to be reworked from a shield talent to shift strength into block rating instead of parry or if this has to be a RE but in the meantime this would be an easy fix to help out the shield tanks-

Adding a block rating gem would give a lot of gameplay value to shield tanks. A+8 block rating gem would exceed the % mitigation chance of a +8dodge or +8parry gem so perhaps add a hybrid red gem such as +5 block rating with +5 block value? I'm not sure where you'd be able to add this into the game as far as a recipe drop but either way this would give a lot of relief to shield tanks who are being railroaded into choosing dodge or parry gems that don't flow well with their talent setups.

    • New Gem for Shield Tanks

For tanking gems you're either going to roll stamina, defense, dodge, or parry. However, there are no gems for block which puts shield tanks at a severe disadvantage. The thing is...with dodge and parry you don't take any damage, but when you block you can still take damage if your block value isn't high enough. And even with my 1.9k block value it still often falls short in mythic and ascended raids.

Adding a gem for block rating is not needed as block chance is very easy to come by through talents and gear. Therefor, in order to increase the effectiveness of shields I'd like to see a red or yellow gem that increases your block value by 20. If you have 10 gem slots you get +200 block value. 🙂

    • This Mythic+ Armor Set may need a rework

When M+ rolled out it was suppose to "run alongside raid progression" but it looks like this dungeon set pales in comparison. I normally roll a prot pally. So here's a comparison of the mthic+ set and the tier 5 set (both at 130ilvl).

Tier 5 (130ilvl) Prot Pally Set Totals:
      4979 Armor
      129 Main Stat (Str)
      253 Stamina
      159 Defense Rating
      100 Block/Dodge/Parry Rating

Mythic+8 (130ilvl) Prot Pally Set Totals:
      4857 Armor
      142 Main Stat (Int)
      164 Stamina
      133 Defense Rating
      0 Block/Dodge/Parry Rating...but 56 mp5 instead?

It has slightly less armor but its fine. It has about 10% more primary stat which is odd. But then its missing an entire 89 Stamina which is a whopping 35.2% reduction in total Stamina, and 100 (yes...ONE HUNDRED) Block/Dodge/Parry Rating. I don't blame ascension devs on this one...this is a weird set that blizzard made back in retail tbc but it hasn't gotten any attention from the ascension staff. There needs to be a massive increase in Stamina with each item level you upgrade it by. As an example, going from 120ilvl to 130ilvl the chest piece only gains 3 stamina. I think this scaling needs a significant buff. And to top it off this set is completely missing block/dodge/parry.mythic+scaling.jpg

    • Prot Pally Shadow LRE

Works like Tactical Mastery's stagger but has a Shadow damage conversion...I'll explain.

If you get hit for 1000 physical dmg you will take 600 instantly and 400dmg over 10 seconds as Shadow dmg. But if your Shadow resist is maxed out (70%) then the 40dmg per tic becomes 12dmg per tic. This LRE automatically gives you a good chunk of Shadow resistance from Defense rating so the more the merrier.

This LRE also boosts your Consecration damage based on how much damage you're taking (storing). The more damage you take, the more damage you can deal. Hypothetically, let's say your Consecration normally tics for 200dmg. If your Shadow Pact is hitting you for 40 dmg per tic (before your shadow resistance) then Consecration will hit for an extra 40dmg per tic. If you're getting bent over hard in raid you could get your Consecration to hit like a truck. (if the healers can keep you alive)

    • RE: Paladin Tank is Strength-locked. Please remove

@ForPony The builder on the website doesn't show everything. In addition to requires your primary talent to be strength, it also requires Righteous Fury. This can't be used with any other tank form/stance. Please undo the downvote

    • RE: New Gem for Shield Tanks

@Eilytres As a 2h tank you get to use stagger to compensate which is how fierce blows is countered by parry tanks. And it sounds like what you're just saying is to just spec into dodge or parry? Hence the reason for my post. Also, if I'm already at 118% mitigation chance, please explain how a +8 dodge or parry gem helps me

    • Intellect/Block Value RE

Tanking with Mana-Forged Barrier generally forces players to take the Mind Over Matter epic RE which gives 1 Defense Rating per Intellect BUT you can no longer block, dodge, or parry. If you want to tank higher difficulty content you're forced into this one way of playing MFB. I'd like to see more options available. If you want to block/dodge/parry with MFB you will have no block value because Intellect pieces don't have block value as a secondary stat. What's the point of having a 30% block chance if your block stops zero damage? 🙂

To compensate for this, an easy alternative to "Mind Over Matter" would be to create another epic RE that grants you 1 Block Value per point of Intellect. With a full set of Intellect gear and off-pieces this would buff shields enough to have around 70% block value when compared to a Righteous Fury or Defensive Stance tank. It wouldn't make shields great, but the mana barrier can make up the difference on the mitigation!

      Maybe call it
      "Shield of the Wise"

    • RE: Paladin Tank is Strength-locked. Please remove

@ForPony I'm sorry but you're not understanding how the talent works- You only gain the effects of Divinity while Righteous Fury is active. You can't use it while in defensive stance, mana-forged barrier, or bear form. And you could never use divinity as a group healer because of the threat generation on Righteous Fury. It is ONLY for RF tanks. That being said, please reconsider your downvote.

    • Frozen Mind Tanking

As it currently stands, frozen mind ERE increases armor by 250% of intellect and has a chance to decrease attackers' critical chance. I thought I'd be able to tank with it but it turns out this is only for PvP since there's zero threat generation. I'd like to be able to roll an intellect tank without being forced to play mana-forged barrier. Please give Frozen Mind the same threat generation as other tank stances.

I love this idea. Paladin taunt swapping with the other tank in asc gruul or ssc can be brutal with that 6sec CD on Hand of Reckoning. I'd also be satisfied with the Vigilance talent reducing the cooldown of Hand of Reckoning.
