Battlemage talent/enchant
-
Im trying to come up with a battlemage kind of build. Something more spellcaster than an enhance shaman but still got some melee in there.
I need help figuring out what the 3/3 battlemage
capstone talent actually does. I see no difference in melee attacks while spamming spells at various different cast times and weapon speeds with or without the talent. And would it be possible to make a build going full int. Or would hunter/shaman gear with agi/int be better because of talents like mental agility

I was playing around with battlemages in a seal of the righteous style build. Seal benefits from SP more then AP by default and can trigger on smite with a judgement talent. It was very weak on AoE.
If I remember correctly: When you cast a spell your auto attack begins its internal cooldown until next hit after the spell ends. Instead with battlemage, if the internal aa cd is done, the auto happens after spell cast ends.
So we would need to line up our auto attack swings to be slightly under our spamming spells. Or a rotation that benefits from cast bar into instant cast for the global window.
Possibly a poison and nature dmg, seals & holy, or firebrand and fire. Or any REs that combine them.
Does that help?

@DoctorBlah i understand the concept. But i think it's broken atm. When i used 2 daggers with 1.8s attack speed and casted a 2.2s spell. My autos would happen instantly after the spell finished with or without the talent. So i think its broken in the sense its always active. I could see if without the talent after the spell finishes casting i would have wait 1.8s to auto but that doesnt seem to be the case

@Vaellian something that is a fun melee ability that works well with a caster centric build is actually the ERE "Sunder Soul" that converts Sunder Armor into an 80% weapon dmg Shadow attack that costs 15 rage and generates a Soul Shard on kill. This can also be combined with the ERE "Shadow Strikes" which makes melee abilities be able to trigger the "Nightfall" talent in Affliction Warlock tree.
This means you can have instant cast Shadowbolts proc'd from your melee spam for a fun hybrid, enjoy ^ ^

@Vaellian Could be a bug with daggers. I tried it on a 1.8sec mainhand axe and needed battlemage to trigger auto after finishing cast
