Brand new player, have some questions
-
Hello, am looking to start playing on the free pick server, pretty much exclusively interested in pve content and have a few questions:
- How casual can you be with builds? Can you just kinda just pick stuff that seems like a fun and good playstyle for yourself and get away with it or you have to do stuff at least semi-meta for even pve?
- How wide do you usually branch out with builds, is sticking with just a few classes good or should you just go ham and grab little bits off of every class?
- I wanna play dps and my initial idea was doing something like retri paladin mixed with fury warrior and its dual wielding of 2-handers, maybe still bringing some party util like the blessings. Is the idea any good? Are there any existing builds in similar vein I could take a look at?

@GatlingGull I don't play on that server so I can't answer 1 or 2 but I've found the build architect (N) to be invaluable to answer your #3. Give it a go! Initially I wasn't super impressed with it but I've found instead of going by likes and such if you pick a legendary enchant and build around that it works much better and more interestingly. I do wish there was a way to sort by those instead of by populism/name

How casual can you be? As much as you want in normal or heroic dungeons. Mythic and M+ will want you to be good at your job.
You can go wide. Remember that you get one stance (Beserker, Moonkin, Shadowform...), one aura, one blessing, one weapon enchant per weapon (Spellstone, Frostbrand, Poisons...), one armor from mage and one from warlock, one hunter aspect, one pet. If you don't want them, they are not required.

hi! everyone im new to the server
how can we play? -
@GatlingGull I have been playing for only about 4 months, but put in a lot of hours. I love pvp, so if it's pvp you want to do, I have learned that if you are going to be a caster, you have to ensure you have plenty of Crowed control abilities, as the game has plenty of them available to everyone and if you get caught in a chain, you probably will die before you can get a cast off, so CC is a priority, again that is for pvp.
No, you can't just go with some casual build. I suggest going with a build of the style you like to play, one from the Architect build that is a player favorite and as you gain experience, adjust it as you go.
Here is another very, very important point. Use your talent points very wisely, making sure you are getting the maximum you can from them, that is going to determine how good you build will be.
Last but not least keep upgrading your gear and get them enchanted with both regular ones and REs. Make lots of gold as some of the better gear can be found in the Auction House compared to Honor gear.
